Experience
Technology Integrationist – Aspen Academy
(August 2021 – Present)
Provided hardware and software support for teachers and staff.
Conducted professional development and training for staff on technology use.
Taught technology classes for grades Kindergarten through 8.
Founder and Director of the Aspen Academy Penguin Corps, the school’s Linux club. Led the students in learning Linux and Open Source software to refurbish used computers. Provided all computers used by students for distance learning made necessary by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Middle School Social Studies Teacher – Aspen Academy
(August 2019 – June 2021)
Taught American History, Minnesota History, geography, and civics to middle school students.
Led professional development for other teachers on technology integration into their classes.
Converted our school’s social studies department to online curriculum, reducing reliance on printed materials.
Technology & Assessment Coordinator – Community School of Excellence
(August 2015 – June 2019)
Served other teachers by providing hardware and software support. Selected software to be used and installed building wide.
Led workshops for teachers on integrating educational hardware and software into their content areas.
Planned and coordinated standardized assessments for grades K-8, including Fastbridge, NWEA, ACCESS for ELLs, OLPA, and MCA.
Founder and Director of the Asian Penguins, the first Linux users group based in a Hmong charter school. Taught students how to install and maintain Linux and how to recycle computers. Oversaw the donation of over 240 computers to needy families.
Successfully spearheaded an online crowd funding campaign to get over 120 laptop computers for our school.
Middle School Social Studies Teacher – Community School of Excellence
(August 2011 – August 2015)
Taught Minnesota History, American History, and Honors African Studies to middle school students.
Instituted an online assessment system in Social Studies, saving the school thousands of sheets of paper per year. Led teacher workshops in technology integration. Trained teachers on how to differentiate that system for special needs learners.
Began the school's annual Citizenship Bee, in which students compete by answering questions from the US Citizenship Test.
5th Grade Teacher/Middle School Social Studies Teacher – Noble Academy
(August 2009 – June 2011)
Taught MN History, US History, and World Geography to middle school students.
Served as faculty adviser for the middle school student council.
Responsible for teaching and managing a 5th grade class. Created and implemented differentiated lessons in reading, math, social studies, and science.
Organized and led extracurricular activities and field trips. Led my class of 26 students to meet and exceed goal of reading 1000 books in one year.
Integrated technology into the classroom experience through both teacher-led and hands-on activities. Administered multiple operating systems in a classroom environment.
